Fence Installation in Moncure, NC

The Deep and the Haw come together near Moncure to form the Cape Fear, and that river geography defines the properties around here. Land is low in places and high in others, parcels are large, and the community sits alongside an industrial corridor that has been part of southeastern Chatham County for a long time. We fence both sides of that: rural homesites and acreage on one hand, commercial and industrial sites on the other.

Wet ground is the recurring technical problem on the residential side. Bottomland near the rivers holds water long after the rain stops, and soil that stays saturated will not grip a post. Our answer is not complicated, but it has to actually be done: footings go deeper in the low sections, the concrete base gets wider, and the top of the footing is crowned so water runs off instead of standing against the post. Where storm debris washes through a fence line, we leave clearance under the bottom rail so the water passes rather than loading up the panels until something breaks.

On rural lots the other constraints are the well and the septic drain field. We locate both before digging and route the fence line around them, because a post through a distribution line is an expensive mistake that shows up months later. If you are still building, the right time to call is once the pad, drive and septic layout are settled and before you want the yard finished.

Commercial and site fencing

The industrial properties along the US 1 corridor need commercial-grade material - heavier chain link fabric, larger posts and top rail, and drive gates wide enough for the equipment that actually uses them. We quote those jobs on the requirements of the site, including gate hardware rated for daily use, rather than dressing up a residential spec. Barbed arms, privacy slats and taller fabric are all available where the site calls for them.

Moncure Fence Questions

Part of my property stays wet. How do you set posts in ground like that?

Deeper, wider and with drainage in mind. Saturated soil offers a post very little resistance, so footings in the low sections go below the wet layer where we can and get a larger concrete base. We also crown the top of the footing so water sheds off rather than standing against the post, and where debris washes through we leave clearance under the bottom rail.

Do you fence industrial and commercial sites along the US 1 corridor?

Yes. Chain link with heavier fabric, larger framework and drive gates sized for trucks is standard commercial work for us. Tell us the height, the gate widths and what kind of traffic the site takes and we will spec it to that instead of scaling up a residential fence.

Can I contain a dog without fencing the entire parcel?

Almost always the better plan on rural acreage. A well-placed enclosure around the house and yard costs a fraction of running fence around the whole property line and gives the dog more room than most suburban yards. We can tie it into existing structures and leave it open to extend later.

We are building on a rural lot. When should we call about fencing?

Once the house pad and driveway are set and you know where the septic system is going. Fencing before the heavy equipment is finished usually means moving something. Call us then and we will come out, work around the drain field and the well, and set the line where it will not be in the way of the rest of the build.
