Louisburg is the Franklin County seat, and the work here reflects that. Louisburg Fence Questions
My back yard slopes down toward the creek. Can a fence follow the grade?
Yes, and there are two ways to do it. A racked fence has pickets that pivot so the run follows the ground continuously with no gaps underneath, which is what most people want on a gradual Louisburg slope. The ground on the low side of my property stays soggy. Will that rot the posts?
Wet ground is hard on wood at the soil line, which is exactly where posts fail. On chronically damp bottomland near the Tar River we usually steer people to vinyl or aluminum posts, and when wood is the right look we use pressure-treated posts set in concrete with the top of the footing crowned so water runs away from the post instead of pooling against it.
Can you build a gate wide enough to get a boat or a trailer through?
Yes. A double-drive gate gives you a clear opening wide enough for a boat, a trailer or a mower, and we size the opening to whatever you actually need to pull through. Wide gates need heavier posts and heavier hinges than a walk gate, so we spec that as part of the quote instead of treating it as an afterthought.
