Fence Installation in Siler City, NC

Siler City anchors the western end of Chatham County, where US 64 and US 421 cross and the land opens up into pasture, timber and poultry country. It is a working town with a manufacturing base and a large agricultural surround, and the fencing we do here reflects both. On the same week we might build a wood privacy fence behind a house near downtown, run woven wire around a pasture on a county road, and install commercial chain link with a drive gate around an equipment yard.

Agricultural fencing is a spec question before it is a price question. Field fence, woven wire, board and split rail all have their place, and the right answer depends on what you are containing and how hard that animal is going to test it. Cattle need strength and height. Goats need tight spacing and a bottom that stays put. Horses need something they cannot get a hoof through and will not injure themselves on, which is why we back rail fence with mesh instead of running anything with barbs where horses are kept.

Open ground west of town brings its own demands. Fence lines here run long, cross rolling terrain and take wind with nothing to break it. Bracing at the ends and corners is what keeps a tensioned run tight, and posts set in concrete are what keeps it upright through a wet Chatham County winter, when the clay holds water and heaves as it freezes and thaws. Gate posts get the largest footings because a gate works against its post every time it swings.

Commercial work in and around Siler City

The manufacturing and light-industrial sites along the highway corridors need a different product than a back yard does. Heavier fabric, larger framework, gates wide enough for a tractor-trailer to swing into, and hardware that survives being used a dozen times a day. We quote commercial jobs on the requirements of the site rather than defaulting to residential-grade material with a bigger footprint, and we will tell you plainly where you can save money and where you should not.

Siler City Fence Questions

Do you install commercial fencing for shops, yards and industrial sites?

Yes. Commercial chain link with drive gates sized for trucks and equipment is standard work for us, and we spec the fabric gauge, height, framework and gate hardware to the traffic the site actually takes. Ask for a commercial estimate when you call so we send the right person.

What kind of fence holds cattle versus goats?

Different wire entirely. Cattle need height and strength but not tight spacing. Goats will go through, under or over anything with a gap, so they need woven wire with smaller openings and a tight bottom. If you run both, we spec to the animal that is harder to contain rather than averaging it.

How far west do you go?

We cover Siler City and the western end of Chatham County out toward the county line. Estimates are free and done on site, so there is no cost to having us come look and tell you what the job would run.

Our pasture is open and windy. Does that change anything?

It changes the bracing. A long fence line across open, rolling ground takes wind load and wire tension that a short backyard run never sees, so end and corner assemblies get built to carry it. We also set the run by sight across the whole distance so the line does not wander with the terrain.
