Durham Fence Installation

Durham asks a fence company to do several different jobs. A narrow lot in Old North Durham with a 1920s house, an alley behind it, and no room to swing a gate has nothing in common with a half-acre in Woodcroft or a wooded lot out toward Treyburn. We work all of it, and the first thing we do on any of them is stand in the yard and figure out which job this actually is.

In the older neighborhoods — Trinity Park, Watts-Hillandale, Duke Park, Northgate Park — the constraints are access, property lines, and mature trees. Lots are tight, surveys are old, and the tree canopy that shades those streets puts roots directly under the fence line. We hand-dig around root flares rather than augering through them, and where the line is genuinely uncertain we would rather you get it surveyed than have us split the difference.

Newer neighborhoods and the county edges

South and east toward Southpoint and along the RTP side of the county, the work is more conventional: graded lots, covenants, and a homeowner who wants a clean privacy line built once and left alone. Wood is the volume material, and it does well here as long as posts are set right. Where a fence needs to hold a view or enclose a pool, ornamental aluminum with SolarShield powder coating is the better answer, and chain link still earns its place around dog yards, garden plots, and rental property where function beats appearance.

Underneath all of it is the same Piedmont red clay. It holds water, moves through a freeze cycle, and slowly pushes a shallow post out of plumb, which is why every post we set goes in concrete.
